Gutter Cleaning Leicester

Leicester has seen its share of heavy-rain flooding, and blocked gutters make downpours worse: water spills down walls, soaks the ground beside your foundations and backs up into gullies and soakaways. That's why we check the drain each downpipe discharges into, not just the gutter.

Most homes in Leicester need a gutter clean once or twice a year — usually late autumn after the leaves fall, and again in spring. Properties near mature trees may need more. Storm Henk on 2 January 2024 led to 160 reports of internal flooding in Leicester, mostly from the River Soar in Abbey and Belgrave wards, according to Leicester City Council. The city's Soar flood scheme protects about 4,700 properties.

South Highfields is a conservation area of two-storey red-brick terraces, and Clarendon Park was built up quickly in the 1870s and 1880s. Streets like these usually have shared rear drains, which have been Severn Trent's responsibility since 2011.

Much of Leicester sits on Mercia Mudstone, a clay that shrinks and swells and can attack concrete with sulphates, according to the British Geological Survey — tough on old rigid pipes, and a reason to test before relying on a soakaway.
