Rats In Drains & Drain Pest Control In Nottingham & The East Midlands

Stop Rats Getting Into Your Home Through The Drains

Most rats that get into homes come from the sewer network through defects in private drains — broken pipes, open joints, missing caps or disused connections. We use CCTV to find the entry point, repair it, and fit rat blockers (non-return valves) that let waste flow out but stop rats coming back in.

How rats get in through drains

Rats live in sewers and can swim, climb vertical pipes and squeeze through surprisingly small gaps. A cracked pipe, a displaced joint, an old unused connection or a missing interceptor cap gives them a route into cavity walls, under floors and into lofts.

Poison and traps deal with the rats already inside; a drain survey and repair stops new ones arriving.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Rats live in the sewer network and can enter properties through defects in private drains, open joints and disused pipes, and can even come up through toilets in rare cases.

A rat blocker is a one-way (non-return) valve fitted inside the drain. It lets waste water flow out to the sewer but closes to stop rats travelling back up the pipe.

Our work focuses on finding and sealing the drainage entry points. We're happy to work alongside your pest controller, who deals with the rats already inside.
