When gutters fill with moss and leaves, rainwater spills over the edge and soaks walls, causing damp patches, stained render, rotting fascias and erosion around foundations. Blocked downpipes can also back up into soakaways and surface water drains.

Most homes benefit from a gutter clean once or twice a year, typically in late autumn after leaf fall and again in spring.
