Drainage In Lincolnshire: What We Know
Anglian Water runs the sewers across most of Lincolnshire. Gainsborough is the exception among the towns we cover: its sewers drain to Severn Trent's works, although Anglian Water supplies the water. Grantham and Sleaford have Nottingham-style NG postcodes but are in Lincolnshire, with Anglian Water sewers.
Much of the county is low-lying and drained by internal drainage boards — Witham Fourth District and Black Sluice around Boston, Welland & Deepings around Spalding, and Upper Witham around Lincoln — whose channels and pumping stations keep water moving off the land.
Lincolnshire County Council says around 1,000 properties flooded during Storms Babet and Henk, and it carried out 264 flood investigations. If your home isn't on mains drainage, the Environment Agency's general binding rules apply to your septic tank or small treatment plant.
